Brochures:
Brochures consist of two or more sheets of paper folded and stapled. Common formats are 8-12-16 pages in A4 size or 8 pages in A5 size. Typical uses include company or product presentations where leaving a trustworthy impression is essential. For a more upscale variant, opt for slightly thicker paper for the cover, instantly giving your printed material a more exclusive look.
Catalogs:
Print materials with extensive content or page count are often perfect bound productions (also available with saddle stitching) designed to withstand frequent browsing. Catalogs have many uses, but they are usually great for presenting a large number of items or a broader range of products. The cover is typically made of thicker paper quality, with the interior pages in slightly thinner quality. If the catalog will be distributed in mailboxes, consider thickness and paper weight to avoid unnecessary extra costs.
Manuals:
Manuals come in many variations. Start by determining the level of detail and quality you want to convey with the manual to align it with the product it accompanies. There are many different levels of ambition to consider, such as binding methods (wire-o, perfect binding, stitching, etc.) or post-processing techniques to make it more durable.
When creating material to showcase a range, present a business, or provide inspiration, such as a manual for a new product launch, it's essential to consider your goals and budget. Based on that, you can select the appropriate product. Here are the most common print materials and their purposes:
Leaflets & Flyers:
Most commonly in formats A4, A5, A65 - or any size! Printed on one or both sides. Leaflets are often used for product descriptions, specifications, etc., and work well when combined with a folder if you have multiple leaflets for a presentation.
Annual & Quarterly Reports:
For practical reasons, these are usually produced in A4 format. Annual and quarterly reports are typically quite elaborate productions considering paper quality and effects such as partial UV coating, foil embossing, etc. One thing to consider, which doesn't directly relate to print quality, is to choose a reputable supplier who understands the need for confidentiality until the content reaches its intended readers. Feeling secure in your relationship with the supplier, both in terms of delivery time and confidentiality, is crucial in these contexts.
Folders:
A folder is essentially a folded sheet of paper that can be printed in many different designs and formats, such as 4-page A4 (A3 folded once) or 6-page A65 (A4 folded twice). An excellent printed material for occasions like trade shows or other events where something needs to be conveyed succinctly and easily taken away by the visitor.
